The second class is the trial conversion moment most studios miss

Trial conversion is not one yes-or-no number. Whether someone books a second class within seven days of the first predicts membership better than the intro offer itself.

Timeline from first trial class to second booking

Most studios measure trial conversion as a single number: did they buy a membership. The more useful question is when.

The seven-day window

Across booking platforms, one moment predicts conversion better than the intro offer: did the trial member book a second class within seven days of the first. Miss that window and odds drop fast, no matter how good checkout feels.

The pattern lives in the reservation table, not the CRM. Front desks rarely see it because platform reports focus on membership status, not sequential bookings.

  • Flag every trial member who has not booked class two by day five or six.
  • Reach them with something specific: three open times, not a generic come back soon email.
  • Track conversion by cohort week, not only by front-desk close rate.

What to do next

Start with one intro offer and one reminder path. Once the second-class trigger is reliable, expand to other onboarding milestones in the first 90 days.

If you run trials on Mariana Tek, MindBody, or PushPress and do not know your second-class conversion window, that is usually the first thing worth finding out.
